Neriage Planter

When we got to do Neriage one day and I was already in the middle of my planter set, I decided to use this opportunity to make a planter! I threw it like normal & got a little wrinkle in the middle of the planter but overall just made it a more interesting piece. Glazed with clear and now ready to be filled with some succulents!

Two Piece Set

This set was meant for my room at home, one is a vase and one is a planter so that they go hand in hand. I threw them like normal, added some slip texture, and then glazed with a combination of Cassie's Green and Purple Rain. The glaze cracked around the hardened slip, resulting in some really cool texture!

Set of One-Piece Planters

These planters were my favorite project all year - I started by throwing them with a water catcher beneath, so instead of throwing two separate pieces, I could efficiently connect the two and only have to throw one planter at a time. For some of them, I used a variety of slips in order to get contrast in the colors, and then on top, I added some cutout Michigan upper and lower peninsulas to bring some character to each one. They were glazed a combination of Cassie's Green and Clear.

Fern Texture Roller Piece

these rollers were the first assignment I did in ceramics, and after messing around with them for a few weeks, ended up with these two pieces. while the glaze was a little too thick to highlight the texture, I love the way that the ferns emerge from the glaze in certain places, and especially how you can see them in the bottom of the mug where I rolled the pattern on the inside. glaze combo - cassie's green + purple rain.

5-Piece Planter Set

felt like spending some time on the wheel on a particularly stressful day last week, and what better way to spend a day on the wheel than making a set? I've been dreaming up planters like this for a while now & finally had the chance to make them. they haven't been glazed yet, but I'll be updating this as soon as they are!

Sgraffito Project - Fern Set

this set is a part of the sgraffito project this semester, and after choosing to do a fern illustration, I decided on a vase, a plate, and mug as my subjects. the mug was thrown on the wheel, the plate was made in a mould, and the vase was thrown as well. black slip was used as the surface for both the plate and the mug, but the vase used a green slip. all were glazed with clear glaze.

Refocusing On The Wheel - Fat Vase + Glaze Experimentation...

in the first week of class, I figured I should take a day on the wheel to adjust to Mr. Benedict's studio, and after making this vase, I tried my hand at etching some designs, and used some glaze recommendations to get an interesting result...
